Eruption is an original, abstract painting on an 18 x 24" x 1" gallery-style stretched canvas. Inspired by the Cascade Mountains, which stretch from Southern Oregon all the way to the Canadian border. These mountains are volcanoes. Mt. Saint Helens is one of the most famous ones in the  chain. The painting is a modern surrealist abstract with a focus on one erupting volcano. A yellowish orange glow infuses the entire painting. The volcano is transparent; the backdrop of mountains as well as rising red magma is visible. A thin line symbolizes the initial small opening the magma uses to push up through the volcano until it gets to the top, where it expands. Intense deep values of red and orange lava with the dark and lighter shades of brown and grey of rocks and ash can be seen pushing out the opening as the explosive eruption spews gases, ash rocks, and  lava in swirrling brushstrokes over the top of the canvas.
This engaging painting is ready to hang. Sides are painted as a continuation of the painting, making a frame optional. Quality varnish will protect from UV damage and allow for gentle cleaning.
